How to Practice Social Distancing at Your Dental Appointment

People practicing social distancing while waiting in lineIf you’re looking for a “dentist near me” during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s important to remember that the best way to keep yourself healthy is to practice social distancing. However, how can you keep your distance while inside a dental practice? Thankfully, your Fresno dentist has established a variety of measures to keep you safe from the coronavirus when you come in for dental care. Here are a few ways they may encourage social distancing during your appointment.

Fewer Appointments Every Day

Your dentist is working hard to safeguard your health before you even arrive for your appointment. While your dental team is excited to welcome you back to the practice, they’re simply not seeing as many patients each day. They’re also asking that only patients enter the practice and any additional family members or friends stay home or wait outside. These measures limit how many people are in the building at one time.

Sequenced Patient Scheduling

When you call to make your appointment, you may notice that you are offered fewer options than before the pandemic. This is due to the sequenced patient scheduling that has been carefully put in place. The extra time between visits allows for more cleaning and physical space for coming and going. While this extra precaution may limit your choices for appointment times, it plays an important role in limiting your exposure to others.

Virtual Waiting Room

When you arrive to the office, you can check in for your appointment from the comfort of your car. This “virtual waiting room” is another way your dentist regulates how many people are in the practice at once. A team member will contact you or come out to greet you when they are ready for you to come inside. This way, you can bypass the reception area entirely and go directly to your treatment room.

Changes to the Reception Area

If you do find yourself in the reception area, you’ll notice that it looks different than the last time you visited. Fewer chairs will be available in order to ensure there is at least six feet between each one. Additionally, activities like toys and magazines have been removed to reduce the number of frequently touched surfaces. Instead, you’ll see helpful signs reminding patients how to keep themselves and others safe while inside the practice.

Facilitating social distancing within their office is one of many ways your Fresno dentist is maintaining a clean, germ-free environment. While your next visit may look a little different than before, you can rest assured that your dental team is taking every precaution to keep you healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
