Dental crowns are restorations that fit completely over the top of a damaged tooth to replace lost dental structure and renew full function. We can craft crowns from a number of different materials, including metal alloys, gold, porcelain fused to metal, and all-ceramic.
We use dental crowns in a variety of treatment plans, including:
Fixed bridges are tooth replacement prosthetics used to replace one or a few consecutive missing teeth. One or more replacement teeth are fused to a dental crown on each side. The dental crowns are then attached to healthy teeth on either side of the lost tooth. Once in place, your crown supported fixed bridge will look and function just like your natural, healthy smile, leaving you looking and feeling your very best.
Your dental crown or fixed bridge will need to be placed over the course of two trips to our office. During your initial appointment, we’ll prepare your teeth. Then, we take an impression of the prepared teeth that will be used by the lab to create your flawless crown or bridge. Before you leave the office, we place a temporary restoration to protect the prepared tooth or teeth. When we receive the restoration from our lab, you’ll return to the office to exchange your temporary for a custom dental crown or fixed bridge.
Once your dental crown or fixed bridge is in place, you should keep the following oral healthcare tips in mind to ensure it remains functional as long as possible:
